Movie Review: Greta Gerwig's Tells Her Story Through Lady Bird

Like many of you, I have this stash of movies (downloads, DVDs) which I have just stored but never watched yet due to time constraints.
Some of them are worth writing about, some NOT.
Anyway, last year's well-feted Lady Bird directed by Greta Gerwig, certainly deserved all the praise it got.

It is a movie all of us can identify with since it's set in that crucial stage in high school - when we're choosing our university and the degree we want to study.
And then of course, all the other attendant things that go with growing up as a teenager - smoking, drinking alcohol, your first sex experience - and all the other 'adult' things you do before you become an actual adult.
Lady Bird shows a girl's experience - from the point of view of someone who studied in an all-girls Catholic high school - something that many in my FB friends can relate to - albeit in an all-boys Catholic high school.
One thing I can relate to Lady Bird is insisting on where I wanted to study. Although she met a bit of opposition here from her mother, my experience was less confrontational but with similar problems - the lack of money.
Lauren Metcalfe's Mom portrayal here is a bit similar to Mama because they were both experiencing the same problem - their husband's job loss - an experience I am quite familiar with - and all its attendant consequences.
It's not an easy place to be in family-wise - but it will certainly make a person stronger.
It would be interesting if Gerwig expands on this narrative since she has a very keen eye in both visual and in words in the way she tells her story.
It would be interesting to see how Lady Bird matures into a real lady.
