I don't know why tennis pundits have never put Stan Wawrinka in the same league as the Big Four, to think that he and Andy Murray have the same number of grand slam titles, and Stan only needs one to win one more to get a grand slam (he has never won Wimbledon yet).
i guess it's because of his inconsistency to perform at a high level every grand slam. I think that's also the reason why he is so scary - because he's like the boy you didn't invite to your birthday party and ends up being the star of your own party.
Roger Federer waits for him in their all-Swiss QF match and Roger should be confident enough with their 22-3 head to head.
However, Roger last lost to Stan in he 2015 RG QF, and his two other losses were also on clay.
And the way Stan dispatched Tsitsipas? Stunning! The poor Greek wunderboy must've now realized, OMG, this is Stan when he's firing in all cylinders - no wonder he has grand slam titles!
Stan also defeated Grigor Dimitrov a round earlier, so Stan has left a bevy really good players biting the dust! Could Roger be next?
Anyway, I'm just happy Roger is playing once again in RG and for him to reach another QF is a testament to how good he still really is!
I will be rooting for Stan but what matters most is that they enthrall everyone watching.
