Movie Review: Charlize Theron Proves in Long Shot that She Can Do Comedy

The new Charlize Theron-Seth Rogen rom-com feels like The American President mixed with Notting Hill. Maybe that was the pitch the producers made to get the film made.

The difference in the premise is that this time, the would-be president is a woman - and the one doing the wooing is just, well, a journalist.

Charlize Theron looks gorgeous every angle you see her, The costume designer, I am sure, had a field day dressing her up - because she looks so statuesque and like a mannequin in many of her scenes! She also has impeccable comedic timing. Seth Rogen is a well-known comedian already and for her to go toe-to-toe with him is a testament to her talent!

Well, it's a good date movie. There is a part though which gives Manila a black eye - and Hollywood should update their perception of Manila.

Frankly, to be blunt about it, there are more people being killed by gun-crazy people in America in their schools, churches, synagogues than in Manila. So please stop portraying our city like it's Jo-burg or Port Moresby.

Otherwise, the leads are fun to watch together and there is just enough dilemmas and kontrabidas to give a bit of suspense, but otherwise it's a feel-good rom-com that is too good to be true!

Kelan pa kaya magkakaroon ng president ng United States na kasingganda ni Charlize Theron? Just imagine all the world leaders (all alpha males) wanting to get into her boudoir - considering that in the movie, she is supposed to be single and available!!
